Description: Steep rocks and ravines, a chapel in the wilderness, fantastic views – in the footsteps of the goats
A tour rich in impressive and dramatic views of the northwest coast and the southern part of Alonissos. The tour has an easy gradient while most the tour stays up on the plateau at about 300 metres’ altitude, but towards Ag. Konstantinos we cross three ravines before we descent the big ravine to reach the chapel of Ag. Konstantinos.
The tour starts at Melegakia and at first the route follows a small streambed surrounded by a forest of tree-heather, strawberry trees and old, big stone oaks. We pass through an area with many goats and at a certain point there is a plateau open towards the sea with a wonderful view. From here the path continues down to the little chapel of Ag. Konstantinos and we will sit and enjoy the atmosphere of this isolated location
Reaching the upper location of Ag. Konstantinos, Psili Rahi, a great view opens towards Skopelos and after this we continue along the path towards Megalo Horafi. We pass over a few Lakka (small fields where the locals grew wheat in former times) hidden in the woods and at a certain point an impressive view opens towards the southern part of Alonissos and the surrounding sea. From Megalo Horafi the tour follows the path towards Vathi to Rema and then up over Tourkovigla reaching its top where a view including the whole of the southern island appears.
We continue down the slope and reaching the main road of the island we will be picked up by the bus to return to Patitiri.
